Why I Pray in Muslin, Not Linen: A Nursing Mum’s Ruku Test
People ask: "Why not 100% linen for summer prayer?" I own 2 beautiful 100% linen dresses that I bought during vacation. I love them. But here’s why I don’t pray in them: My linen dresses have buttons. I wear them outside because I’m nursing. Buttons = easy access when I’m out with baby. My muslin prayer dresses have no buttons. I can’t nurse in them when I’m outside. So they stay home. But for prayer? Muslin wins. Why? 1. Speed : Baby is crying, it’s Maghrib time. I can pull a muslin dress over my head in 3 seconds. No buttons to open, close, fix. I’m in prayer before baby gets upset. 2. Ruku Test : No buttons = no gaping when I bow. No adjusting. No worry "is something showing?" I just pray. 3. Khushu : With linen, I think about buttons in ruku. "Is it closed?" With muslin, I forget I’m wearing it. I think about Allah.
